Amidst the rumours of coup and political crisis, China cracked the
whip and deleted around 2.10 lakh posts since March 2012. In addition,
42 websites were shut to deal with the situation.
The Chinese leadership has taken serious note of the Internet rumours
that put the political establishment in the country in a tight spot.
Several social media and microblogging service websites have been under
the scanner for spreading the "false news" and "rumours".
Meanwhile, over 10,000 people protested in Chongging against top
Communist leader Bo Xilai, whose wife was detained on suspicion of
murder. The police had to fire tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
