Under fire from Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has decided to send back the Sri Lankan Air Force personnel who were on training at the Tambaram Airbase.
Earlier, Jayalalithaa had lodged strong objections to the training of Sri Lankan Air Force personnel in Chennai, saying it would hurt the sentiments of people in Tamil Nadu.
Union shipping minister G K Vasan and MDMK had also raised objections to the training of Sri Lanka Air Force officials. The government took immediate action to prevent the issue from snowballing into a major political controversy.
